Why do you feel that BW/WM relationships last longer that BM/WW relationships? Not like WHY!! accusingly but whats your perspective on why they last longer? If that makes any sense lol.
The statistic I read was, “BW/WM marriages have the lowest rate of divorce among interracial and same race couples”. I’m not sure why that’s the case…
But if I had to guess I’d say it’s because there’s more stigma to a BW/WM relationship and more at stake. In the past, when a black woman married a white man, people assumed she just wanted his money. And when a white man married a black woman, people saw it as marrying below his status.
So when BW/WM couples make the decision to marry despite these judgements and stereotypes, it’s for the long haul. Plus facing adversity like that tends to bring people closer… They probably have a vested interest in proving everyone wrong also lol.
A woman who is in the process of learning to know, accept and love herself on all levels, Mind Body and Spirit. A woman who, because she focuses on personal growth and self awareness, experiences a life, increasingly filled with peace, love, joy, passion and fun. A woman that understands that she has unlimited capacity to make her life anything she wants. A woman who is inspired to give to those around her because of her sense of gratitude and abundance.
“Women often have a great need to portray themselves as sympathetic and pleasing, but we’re also dark people with dark thoughts. I wanted to have that on the page, as horrible as it might seem.”—Zadie Smith on her novel NW (from The Evening Standard). (via naisae)
“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That’s the message he is sending.”—Thich Nhat Hanh (via hermionejg)
“I no longer have the energy for meaningless friendships, forced interactions or unnecessary conversations. If we don’t vibrate on the same frequency there’s just no reason for us to waste our time. I’d rather have no one and wait for substance than to not feel someone and fake the funk.”—Joquesse Eugenia (via felicefawn)
“Although most boys figure out how to bring themselves to orgasm by age thirteen, half of girls don’t have their first orgasms until their late teens, twenties, or beyond. Teenage girls widely agree that they get the message loud and clear that masturbation is something boys do, but girls don’t, can’t, or shouldn’t. The cultural focus on intercourse tells young women to expect they’ll begin to experience sexual pleasure once they have sex with a man (whether or not they’re even interested in sex with men). Nearly all teen boys, on the other hand, experience sexual pleasure long before they get their hands—or other body parts—into a partner’s pants. Despite the massive advances in women’s equality, young women’s sexuality is stuck in a surprising paradox. Young women are sold provocative clothes but aren’t taught where to find their own clitoris. Many girls give their boyfriends oral sex, but are too uncomfortable with their own bodies to allow the guys to return the favor. It’s still a radical act to say that women need and deserve access to information about their own sexual pleasure—not just about the risks and negative consequences of sex.”—
Definitely feeling alone tonight. I deleted my Facebook ‘cause I was sick of looking at it. It was this never ending, perpetual motion of scrolling to see the same damn thing over and over and over again. Not in the mood for it but it’s an addiction so instead of just leaving the page, I deleted it. Plus, it’s way more likely that I’ll cause drama being on there than on here. No one knows me here. No one knows I’m here.
I can say whatever the fuck I want about my boyfriend’s two-faced, simple-minded, bullshit family here.
I can post freely without feeling like I’m being judged or watched or harassed here.
I can cuss and rant and throw a fit here.
I cannot post anything about how his sister is a fucking loser there.
I cannot post anything about how his mom is an invalid who doesn’t have anything else to do but make everyone else around her miserable there.
I cannot express my feelings unless veiled by poetry and a vernacular that is so far above all of their stupid fucking heads there.
So, I guess it’s back to some serious blogging now. I need to be writing more anyways. Might help with the stress.
“Only be with someone who you think you can learn from. They should be smarter than you in certain ways so that you can continue to grow and be interested. Above all, you should undoubtedly be proud that you are with them.”—something my 10th grade history teacher told me about how he knew he wanted to marry his wife (via universeobserver)
Progressive people of the world, go ahead and see “Ender’s Game” this weekend with a clear conscience: Orson Scott Card won’t see a penny of your movie ticket money, TheWrap has learned.
Card’s volumes of anti-gay vitriol have sparked an “Ender’s Game” movie boycott movement that’s spanned multiple organizations, cities and social platforms in the lead-up to the film’s Friday release. Their common goal: To prevent the openly homophobic author from pocketing profits at the hands of enlightened moviegoers.
But multiple sources from both inside and outside the companies that produced the “Ender’s Game” film – distributor Summit Entertainment, visual effects company Digital Domain and book-rights holder OddLot Entertainment – tell TheWrap that Card’s fee has already been paid through a decade-old deal that includes no backend.
If you really want to hit Card where it hurts, boycott his book instead: Card still profits handsomely from the novel, perched at the top of the latest New York Times Best Seller List for paperback mass-market fiction
Very good to know. Although I would suggest that you not “boycott the book,” but rather borrow it from a friend or check it out from your local library. It’s an award-winning classic novel; there are a ton of ways to get your hands on a copy without actually purchasing it. (It’s also a very good book that was written long before Card developed his vitriolic views, or at least before he started openly injecting them into his fiction. It’s worth reading, if you haven’t done so already.)
Ryan:I feel really weird right now. like, I know I should be writing
and I'm wasting valuable time but I just... can't
Me:Then just chill. No point stressing out about it. You'll get it done
Ryan:yeah, I guess...
Ryan:I just feel like last year came easier
Ryan:but I feel like last year I wasn't as busy
Ryan:and I didn't start off feeling so... weird
Me:Yeah, but you never know what's gonna happen
Ryan:that's certainly true
Me:You might get a stroke of inspiration after this
Me:Like, maybe you feel weird because your muse is trying to break out of your brain but it's taking a while so it's uncomfortable
Me:YOUR BRAIN IS GIVING BIRTH!!
Me:TO A BEAUTIFUL MUSE
Me:Like, I'm having a really hard time...but my mom just told me she accidentally left wine in my car...
Ryan:oh god, it'll be like Zeus and Athena
Ryan:I'll need to get someone to split my head open with a hammer when the headache becomes unbearable
Me:You'll be fine
Me:It'll come out of your ears and your mouth and your nose. And most importantly your fingertips!!
Ryan:I hope so, better there than breaking open my head xP
Me:You'll be fine. No worries
Ryan:I appreciate your confidence in me
Me:You should appreciate everything that you've done to inspire that confidence
Ryan:so just about nothing?
Me:YOU'VE DONE EVERYTHING
Ryan:I certainly haven't done everything
Me:You can't possibly know that
Ryan:I can't know I haven't done everything?
Me:Because...let's say you're this higher being that isn't allowed to be awakened yet because when you took this form you set a timer because you knew your creations weren't ready for the awesomeness that is you yet...and so that timer has yet to go off
Me:So, you are unaware that you have done everything
